We are a company that has a combined thirty plus years of experience but has been in business since 2018 and is looking to grow.  We are looking for desktop support technician who wants to build a career by doing the right thing by their customers, our partners, and to make an impact in our organization.  We know that while the paycheck may be signed by us, it’s the partners who are paying. Our expectations for a Desktop Support Technician

 

The Desktop Support Technician is a full-time entry-level opportunity to join our growing team. We are looking for an ambitious and promising teammate that can offload lower-level tasks from our veteran team members. Our ideal candidate aspires to higher levels of technical competence and responsibility but never outgrows humility.  A qualified candidate will have the drive to provide a consistently excellent client experience. We know it’s equally important that we invest in you.  We believe that means keeping you challenged, growing, trained, and excited to go to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to consistently and effectively communicate across all clients and teams.

  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and writing skills.

  • Working directly with clients to build strong relationships with them.

  • Build, configure, and deploy user workstations, including varying levels of hardware and software.

  • Manage users and groups within Active Directory.

  • Manage users and groups within Office 365 and Exchange

  • Diagnose, investigate, and resolve computer issues both desk-side and remotely.

  • Thoroughly maintain and update trouble tickets and track time spent.

  • Maintain asset and configuration information.

  • Document serial numbers, software and hardware expiration dates, equipment firmware and software versions.

  • Troubleshoot and assist users with Microsoft Office products.

  • Troubleshoot and assist users with Microsoft Windows desktop operating system issues.

  • Troubleshoot and assist users with general network connectivity issues including wired and wireless networks.

  • Remediate computers affected by viruses and malware.

  • Assist clients in configuring mobile devices for use with items such as email and general troubleshooting.

  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and working them through to completion and communicate when assistance is needed.

  • Ability to diagnose quickly and solve or escalate problems to appropriate team members.

Technology:

  • Microsoft Windows Desktops

  • Microsoft Office Applications

  • Line of business applications

  • Android and iOS devices

  • Remote Access such as RDP and VPN

  • Networking equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls

  • Active Directory for user account management

  • Office 365 account management

  • Exchange account management

Our expectations for a Systems Administrator:

 

Our future systems administrator wants to solve problems by stepping back and thoughtfully thinking through easy and tough situations.  Always calm, always thoughtful, and always troubleshooting.  Accepting that the simplest answer may not be the answer presented by the end-user.  Working an issue through the lens of common sense and the big picture based on learned knowledge, all while thinking of better ways to do things.

  • Initial Expectations

    • Microsoft Admin Skills

      • Windows desktop and server OS, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Sharepoint, OneDrive, Teams, file sharing, printer sharing, group policy, server installations, volume shadow copy, remote access, and SQL Server management

    • Networking

      • IPv4, firewalls, port forwarding, NAT, VPNs, switching, wireless networks, and general troubleshooting skills

    • Preferred Vendor Experience

      • Veeam, Sophos, HP, Dell/EMC, VMWare, Webroot, Datto, Synology, Barracuda, and Airwatch

    • Application Experience (not required in some cases but many are a plus)

      • Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Goldmine, ACT, Solidworks, Sage, CCH products, Macola/EM10, Adobe products, Solidworks PDM, Upkeep, Crystal Reports, and Wisys

    • Documentation & Communication Requirements

      • Ability to manage service tickets, update notes, and enter time

      • Document changes in a partner's infrastructure

      • Coordinate and plan with vendors

      • Communicate effectively with team members

      • Reach out to partners in times of priority issues and network outage and provide explanations, solutions, and calm all while resolving the issue(s)
